Lecture by Professor Mark Bailey: The Evolution of the Suffolk Coast and its Ports (1200 – 1600 A.D. )

October 5 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm

Professor Mark Bailey returns to talk about one of the most fascinating periods for this part of the Suffolk coast, from 1200 to 1600 A.D.

Anyone who’s heard stories about the Golden Hind which was Sir Francis Drake’s boat that first circumnavigated the world between 1577-80 or stories about ships built in Orford, Slaughden or Aldeburgh would be forgiven for wondering where has it all gone. Mark will explain why and how the ports along our coast evolved during a period of change.
