Stephen Sackur: Hard Truth

February 27, 2027 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Hard Truth, published in October 2026, explores a series of political investigations that shook the world. It is a passionate defence of independent investigative journalism in an era defined by weaponized disinformation, tech oligarchs and algorithm-warped realities. It examines ten dramatic high-stakes cases where reporters showed extreme bravery to expose corruption and abuse of power ranging from Daniel Ellsberg’s release of the Pentagon Papers to Alexei Navalny’s anti-corruption work in Russia, to Daphne Caruana Galizia’s investigations in Malta.

Radio and television broadcaster Stephen Sakur hosted HARDtalk, BBC Television’s flagship programme for nearly 20 years with international feeds. He joined Times Radio in 2025 and is one of the presenters of The Times at One and Friday presenter of GMT on BBC World News. For fifteen years he was the BBC foreign correspondent.
